VLC x264 codec support

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me if there is a version of VLC that supports the x264 format/codec ?
I tried the vlc from the normal repo and it does not support x264 streams ..

I have the x264 package installed, in fact I have gripped's x264-neon version installed.
