Kodi + Synergy RPI2

I've seem to have found myself in a little pickle.

i currently I trying to use my RPI2 as an IRC machine/kodi steaming machine set up to a second monitor on my desk. I thought I would be able to use Synergy to share both my keyboard and mouse between the too. This works great with the I3-gaps desktop I have set up on the rpi2. However I run into trouble when I lunch kodi. The mouse and keyboard signals don't get sent to kodi.

I'm guessing this to be beacuse the kodi-rbp package runs in full screen, and this seems to have been proven buy this post over at the rpi forums,

My question is, can I some how get the keyboard and mouse to send signals to kodi, though synergy so how, or is there an other software alternative I can use?

Edit, forgot to mention my other machine runs Arch linux.
