Full system upgrade failed in spectacular fashion

Postby mpz » Sat Jan 14, 2017 7:11 am

Hello,

I ran
Code: Select all
pacman -Syu

and it completely broke my system. Pacman started to throw segmentation faults and then completely failed before all packages even updated.

I split pastebin output into 2 due to size limits.
http://pastebin.com/E69byHfC
http://pastebin.com/H8N8DrYc

Almost every command fails now.
Code: Select all
[user@server ~]$ pacman --help
pacman: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libcurl.so.4: invalid ELF header
[user@server ~]$ vim /etc/pacman.conf
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
[user@server ~]$ less /var/log/pacman.log
less: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libpcre.so.1: invalid ELF header
[user@server ~]$ cat /etc/pacman.conf
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
[user@server ~]$ ls
/usr/bin/ls: line 1: /bin: Is a directory
/usr/bin/ls: line 2: syntax error near unexpected token `('
/usr/bin/ls: line 2: ` * Copyright (C) 2003, 2004, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015 g10 Code GmbH'
[user@server ~]$ whoami
-bash: /usr/bin/whoami: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error

Once I lose my SSH connection I won't be able to connect so I hope there's a way to chroot.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
