usb dongle ASIX AX88772 USB 2.0 Ethernet no link status

Postby chub » Mon Feb 27, 2017 9:54 pm

Hi, after updating my Raspberry Pi 2 to the latest kernel (Linux gw 4.9.12-1-ARCH #1 SMP Fri Feb 24 18:56:48 MST 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux), and rebooting, all 3 usb dongles are now none operational. The link seems to go up/down constantly, but over a long period of time. I plug the dongle back into my laptop running older x86_64 kernel and it works fine. So my conclusion is that since the kernel update on ArchLinux Arm, I am experiencing this problem. How can I roll back the kernel, or how can I get an alternative driver for asix or even firmware?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[ 885.184783] asix 1-1.5.4:1.0 eth1: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x45E1')

this message comes and goes.

I can also mention that this happens to be part of a bridge, if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance.

Does this have something to do with usbnet being missing?

Is the only way to go using something like this? https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/asix-module/

managed to compile the aur package called asix-module, but this is the message I get :(

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[Wed Mar 8 22:11:47 2017] asix: loading out-of-tree module taints kernel.
[Wed Mar 8 22:11:47 2017] ASIX USB Ethernet Adapter:v4.19.0 http://www.asix.com.tw
[Wed Mar 8 22:11:48 2017] Non-authentic ASIX product
ASIX does not support it
[Wed Mar 8 22:11:48 2017] eth%d: Binding device failed: -19
[Wed Mar 8 22:11:48 2017] usbcore: registered new interface driver asix')

Seems like for me, I need to roll back the kernel, but I need more info. Anybody done this before?

Thanks!
