Raspberry Pi RTC Not Working

Postby lostinlinux » Sat Apr 15, 2017 12:33 am

i have a raspberry pi 3 running ArchLinuxARM-2017.04-rpi-2-rootfs.tar.gz and a PFC8523 real time clock.

i added this to /boot/config.txt:
Code: Select all
dtoverlay=i2c-rtc,pcf8523

but when arch boots, it doesn't get the time from the RTC. in the journal, i still see this message:
Code: Select all
Jan 31 17:10:48.142935 test systemd-timesyncd[277]: System clock time unset or jumped backwards, restoring from recorded timestamp: Fri 2017-04-14 16:22:42 PDT

something (kernel? timesyncd?) sets the time on the RTC about every 10 minutes. everything in timedatectl and hwclock looks correct. lsmod lists the clock and i2c modules.

this works with raspbian so i assume the hardware is good.

how do i get this working?
