bsdtar: could not chdir to 'root'[SOLVED]

Postby TroubledTuna » Fri Aug 09, 2019 10:40 am

Hi there,

Firstly I've never used forums much in my time, so please accept my apologies if somethings missing, or I've posted in the wrong place (I hope I haven't)

To the issue at hand; I'm trying to install ArchLinux Arm on my Raspberry Pi 2 Model B.

I have followed these instructions found here; https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7/broadcom/raspberry-pi-2

I have got to step number 5 where it says;

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'b')sdtar -xpf ArchLinuxARM-rpi-2-latest.tar.gz -C root

When I try and do this, I get the following error;

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'bsdtar -xpf ArchLinuxARM-rpi-2-latest.tar.gz -C root
bsdtar: could not chdir to 'root'')

Can someone help me understand what's going on and what's happened? Thanks guys :D

The answer is I wasn't doing the process as ROOT.

I reformatted the SDcard, logged in as root and started over and then it worked.

Solved.
