Unable to get input in X11 due to lack of drivers [solved]

Postby lembark » Sun Mar 01, 2015 7:54 pm

Using http://os.archlinuxarm.org/os/ArchLinux ... est.tar.gz (current as of 2015-03-01 13:42:23).
Kernel is 3.18.8-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Feb 27 19:37:26 MST 2015 armv7l

Using Logitec universal USB. KB and touchpad work at console: I can type and gpm is handling the input properly.
Running X11, evdev starts but rejects the input device. This may be related to the posting "Raspberry FBTURBO xorg
hw acceleration issue (tested on pi2)", but this is a purely stock installation.

Minimal test uses .xinitrc w/ single line of "/usr/bin/rxvt"; get same problem with lxsession, fvwm.

Using Xorg.0.log from rxvt startup: X11 gets evdev(.053), evdev sees the keyboard (.167+) and mouse (.171) and then rejects the device for lack of a driver (.171+). System is not locked up (e.g., I can ssh in and killall -HUP rxvt).

Searching has gotten me plenty of similar cases, some fixed with kernel rebuilds, but I wanted to see if there was
anything I might fix with pacman before cross-compiling. So far, following various postings, I've installed
extra/xf86-input-keyboard & ..-mouse without any help.

Q: Is there any package that does provide the necessary drivers, or do I need to build a new kernel?
Q: If the latter, is there any working, minimal config for it available?

thanks

If your wm can't handle dbus, your xinitrc would look something like this
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'exec dbus-launch startlxde')
