cfgcf80211: Timeout while waiting for CRDA to reply

Postby pejobo » Sat Aug 08, 2015 7:39 pm

After kernel and firmware update I've got suddenly error message in dmesg for cfg80211 (lines ever repeating):

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
[Sat Aug 8 20:38:17 2015] cfg80211: Timeout while waiting for CRDA to reply, restoring regulatory settings
[Sat Aug 8 20:38:17 2015] cfg80211: Restoring regulatory settings
[Sat Aug 8 20:38:17 2015] cfg80211: Kicking the queue
[Sat Aug 8 20:38:17 2015] cfg80211: Calling CRDA to update world regulatory domain
')

I've got no wifi dongle attached, so I disabled the module and blacklisted it for time beeing. Anyone else with this?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '

Yes Im getting this too. Using edimax 7811UTC and driver from https://github.com/abperiasamy/rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux, which has been working fine. Continues to work but with these messages.

After a little bit of digging I found a post that mentioned checking if crda was installed. I looked for crda package and found one. Installed it pacman -S crda and got a message about commenting out correct country code in /etc/conf.d/wireless-regdom, in my case GB. I did this, rebooted and now seems OK.

Try "iw reg get" this may show country code = 00. This is default "world domain". TRy iw reg set GB (or your appropriate code". If this doesnt set then you may need to install.

Dont know why this is happening now, probably tighter controls.

hope this helps

Thanks for you hint. If I ever add a wireless stick I will try this. For now I blacklisted the driver.

I tried your solution, I can confirm that this fixed it for me, too. But only until reboot..
Still don't know why the module is loaded in the first place, lsmod shows zero usages.
