Pi2 partial resolution (solved, config.txt)

Postby frylock » Wed Aug 19, 2015 11:58 pm

This is my first post... please be gentle!

I have some minor experience with Arch on the desktop, but this is my first Pi. It's been a while since I've tinkered with Linux.

So, I'm running XFCE4. Everything is meeting my expectations, apart from one thing: my monitor resolution is stuck at 1824x984, and I can't figure out how to change it to 1920x1080. (I have no xorg.conf.) Also, oddly, XFCE reports that my refresh rate is 0.0 Hz.

You might want to look at the information about /boot/config.txt at eLinux:

http://elinux.org/RPiconfig

And the following page looks even better:

Beautiful! I'll mark this as solved

For anyone who cares, the second link did the trick: I simply read the section "WHICH VALUES ARE VALID FOR MY MONITOR?" and followed steps 1-4. I then edited my config.txt such that hdmi_group=2 and hdmi_mode=82.

I just noticed this, but the above changes had an unintended consequence (HDMI audio stopped working). To fix this, I had to uncomment an additional line in /boot/config.txt and then reboot: hdmi_drive=2
