[kodi-rbp] segmentation fault on startup

Postby normalra » Thu Sep 17, 2015 7:55 pm

Hello!

A certain sequence of steps causes my Kodi instance to enter a segfault loop, starting up and then promptly crashing — only to be brought up again to repeat the cycle. It is important to note that a fresh installation of the kodi-rbp package (v. 15.1-1) does not crash and runs without issue. I am able to trigger this loop with the following actions:

$this->bbcode_list('1')
  • Videos -> Files -> Add videos...
  • Browse and add path (i have tested various files and methods of accessing them [UnPnP, SFTP/SSH, localfs])
  • [Set content] change to (Movies) which scrapes with the default scraper (The Movie Database)
  • A dialog [Change content] Do you want to refresh informations for all items within this path [YES].
  • crash loop occurs

  • After a crash, stopping and restarting Kodi does not resolve the issue, only removing Kodi data files located in /var/lib/kodi/ does. Relevant debug information: kodi crashlog and a verbatim copy of coredumctl gdb output.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hm, just noticed viewtopic.php?f=15&t=9261#p48460 but I'm not sure whether this is related.
    ----
    Indeed it is! Updating to kodi-rbp 15.1-2 solves the issue. I was deceived by the simplicity of the commit and assumed it was a minor package bump. The following update transaction fixed my issue:

    $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
    [2015-09-17 22:07] [ALPM] upgraded libtasn1 (4.6-1 -> 4.7-1)
    [2015-09-17 22:07] [ALPM] upgraded gnutls (3.4.4.1-1 -> 3.4.5-1)
    [2015-09-17 22:07] [ALPM] upgraded libdrm (2.4.64-1 -> 2.4.65-1)
    [2015-09-17 22:07] [ALPM] upgraded kodi-rbp (15.1-1 -> 15.1-2)
    ')

    Apologies for the noise.
