External HDD can not be found after update/reboot

Postby shlnz » Sun Jan 17, 2016 9:02 pm

Hi everyone,

I used to have an external HDD connected to my RPi2, but after I updated/rebooted today, I am not able to mount my external HDD (WD Elements 500GB) again. The HDD is ext4 formatted, if this matters in any way.

The HDD is not shown with lsblk nor lsusb:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
$ lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
mmcblk0 179:0 0 14.9G 0 disk
├─mmcblk0p1 179:1 0 100M 0 part /boot
└─mmcblk0p2 179:2 0 14.8G 0 part /

$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 1a40:0101 Terminus Technology Inc. Hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMSC9512/9514 Fast Ethernet Adapter
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9514 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMC9514 Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
')

I tested the HDD on my Laptop (running archlinux x86) and is working there.
I dont know what I could try next...please help :)

Many thanks in advance,
shlnz

What does the dmesg command say when you connect the HDD to the RPi?
