ESPRESSObin-Ultra

Postby jernst » Sat Jun 20, 2020 10:33 pm

Just got mine in the mail. What about we exchange notes here how to get it running with Arch?

My questions start with the very basics:

1) What’s the approved way to insert an M.2 disk? Which screws?
2) How do I boot from an M.2 disk?
3) What are all the networking devices shown with “ip link”?
4) How do I control the LEDs?

(In true Globalscale fashion, there seems to be no documentation. At least the box contained none and I can't anything about this model on their site.)

Here are some draft answers (with help from Globalscale)
1. Unscrew both front and back face plate. Carefully slide out the board towards the back. Don't go all the way because the WiFi wires aren't long enough.
2. Basically change the boot device to /dev/sda1. However, if there is another disk (e.g. USB) it may be /dev/sdb1, so using a PARTUUID is preferred. Needs to be ext4
4. /sys/class/leds/ledX/brightness. The LEDs are boolean although the kernel reports 0..255. Also, my LEDs seem to have very different brightnesses (blue is very bright, red the opposite)

Hoping this helps somebody.
