Recent core dumps with lxqt and graphics stack

Was not sure where to post this:
the thread for the kernel is locked in announcements

Platform RPi-4 8GB, fresh install of aarch64 (ArchLinuxARM-2021.02-rpi-aarch64-rootfs.tar.gz). After setup updated and flashed EEPROM. Install LXQt (https://www.debugpoint.com/2020/12/lxqt ... x-install/). Tested with startlxqt no problems. Nothing new added or removed.

Built linux-raspberrypi4 with distccd no change in config (FYI approx. 45mins). Followed by installing header and kernel packages.
Startlxqt now does not start with the following errors:

Tried pacman -S libxcb (reinstalling)
Tried building libxcb from https://archlinuxarm.org/packages/arm/l ... s/PKGBUILD
And installed same errors on startlxqt.
Any ideas?

I can't answer the question about LxQT, but it may be worth noting that today the mainline aarch64 kernel does seem to detect and use USB. The version from the tar archive used on installation does not, but if you can log in via ssh and run pacman -Syu to update to the latest version the USB is then recognised.

On the other hand the boot process is much slower than for the linux-raspberrypi4 kernel. The performance on the mainline kernel when logged in over ssh seems very good but when using a graphical desktop it seems subjectively poorer, i.e. linux-raspberrypi4 kernel gives better performance in this case. For me, with one application, a BBC micro emulator, the performance with the mainline kernel is about half that of the linux-raspberrypi4 kernel.

I can confirm on RPi4B, running linux-raspberrypi4 that starting sddm results in a coredump. and with unresponsive keyboard.

Steps to reproduce:
* Install lxqt sddm and try staring sddm.

Results of just stepping through kernels is below. It seems 5.10.43-1 was the last-known-good. Someone should reproduce my findings here and open a ticket upstream: https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues

Mention that the last-known-good commit is https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/co ... 06a9016cef (this is what our 5.10.43-1 sourced).

Results:
* linux-raspberrypi4-5.10.44-1 console login prompt works. Starting sddm results in the coredump and with the freezing of the keyboard (perhaps all USB I did not check).
* linux-raspberrypi4-5.10.43-2 console login prompt is broken/no output on boot. Ssh access works, just graphics is broken. Cannot test sddm.
* linux-raspberrypi4-5.10.43-1 is normal (console login and with sddm).

I reverted the PR that introduced the issues until upstream fixes. Please try 5.10.44-2 once it builds and hits your mirror. Works for me with sddm/kodi.

I have just installed 5.10.44-3-ARCH and that works fine for me. @graysky since you posted the message about 5.10.44-2 there has been another update on the upstream issue. Is that included in 5.10.44-3?
