Need help mounting usb 3.0 storage on boot RPI4.

Postby SilverSoul » Thu Aug 05, 2021 2:19 am

I have an external USB 3.0 enclosure holding a HDD. I can't seem to get it to mount on boot (the kernel sees the device being plugged in but throws a "usb usb2-port1: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?") and power cycles it forever. The drive works after replugging it in, trying it with another cable does not fix anything. Other USB 3.0 devices are detected after boot (tried a sound card).

The "pcie_brcmstb" module is in my initial ramdisk and everything is updated.

Can anyone help me figure out what's going on?

EDIT: The external drive in question is a seagate backup plus 4tb. Things work perfectly on another rpi4 running rasbian.

Fixed by replacing the generic kernel with the rpi4 specific one.
