[SOLVED] No mouse cursor under sway

Postby acorbi » Mon May 09, 2022 7:42 am

Hi all!

I've finally managed to boot my rpi4 (8Gb model) under aarch64 and use my usb keyboard and mouse.
Everything seems to be working now (wifi, usb, sound, graphics, etc...) except showing the mouse cursor under sway (wayland).

If I start gdm for login I can see the mouse cursor but when I select "sway session", after starting sway, all the sway desktop things are working but the mouse disappears, I mean, the mouse works because I can point and click but I can't see the mouse cursor.

If in gdm I select an X11 session like "Gnome on Xorg", the mouse cursor is shown as expected.

Any ideas about what can I try to make it work?

Thanks!

Update: The answer was in the wiki under virtualization, this trick works for me: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Sway#No_visible_cursor

Maybe the hardware is faulty.

I don't think so,

I mean, I think its related to not using the propietary graphics driver as I'm using the linux-aarch64 kernel.
If I use the linux-rpi kernel I don't need that option.
