New Setup with Pi4 8GB - Will not seem to boot

I've got Arch running bare metal on another smaller little Macbook so I might just try running through the SD card setup on that machine too.

Also, if I were to get Raspberry Pi OS back up and running. Is there any information I can glean from it that may be helpful?

I did update the firmware before starting all this. I didn't make a note of the firmware version etc.

Try disconnecting your mouse. I had a issue with a mouse that caused u-boot to not being able to boot Arch Linux. And as soon as you've booted, install the linux-rpi kernel (which don't use u-boot)

I have also now tried another standard AC/USB 5V adapter. This one is beefier at 5V 4A 20W. It came with a GLiNet OpenWrt router I have. That also gives me the same result.

I think it's safe to say at least one of these power supplies should work. And they all work with Raspberry Pi OS.

I also tried last night setting up the SD card from MacBook I have that is running Arch natively. Same result.

I am now in the process of trying a completely different SD card. It's a brand new one, albeit smaller in size (32GB).

Will report back on how I get on. If this still fails then I too am completely out of ideas.

Could there be something different about my Pi4 board? It was brand new, and I paid way over the odds for it.

The first SD card I was using is a SanDisk Extreme Plus 64GB Class 1 MicroSD XC. The second one is a SanDisk Extreme 32GB Class 3 MicroSD HC.

Are there any differences between OS's and what SD cards they can run on?

Thinking I might try EndeavorOS for ARM if I can't get this working as that is probably the next closest thing to vanilla Arch.

I have same problem here.
I did follow instructions. Repeat those after failed attempt but still not able to boot.

I have original power adapter and was able to run ubuntu on my rpi4 with that power adapter.
SD card should be OK.

So I did plug monitor and keyboard and power on. RPI did stuck at start. see attached photo.
There is same error doesnt matter if eth cable is plug or unplug.

I did also try to hit any key but with not success.
