Has anyone installed a pcf2127 rtc - i2c bus on odroid c2?

I have an odroid c2 on which I installed arch linux but I need to have a real time on clock on it. I also have a pcf2127 based real time clock which ran fine on an rpi-2. I believe it will require at least editing the device tree to get this working but I cannot find any examples of this.

There is an example of using a ds1307 rtc under Ubuntu on the Odroid forum, but that involved recompiling the kernel to make it work.

Will that recompiling be required also on arch linux?
