Chromium single page load running device out of memory

Hi there,

When I launch Google Drive (http://drive.google.com) on Chromium on my Hardkernel Odroid C2, it gradually fills up the memory until running out (the Chromium task manager shows 1Gb and more used only by this the Google Drive tab). This behaviour does not happen using Midori in place of Chromium.

Could that memory hogging be related to a video driver issue?

Version of Chromium: 53.0.2785.116 (64-bit)
Graphic Drivers installed (not sure how to see which is in use): xf86-video-fbdev and xf86-video-vesa
