OpenJDK server VM build for AArch64

Postby wks » Thu Jul 13, 2017 3:45 pm

I noticed that on aarch64, the java executable built from the java8-openjdk-aarch64 package is a "zero VM". It is interpreter-only, therefore it is very slow for some non-trivial tasks. However, the official OpenJDK does support JIT compiling on AArch64. My questions are:

1. Why is the default build using the zero VM?
2. Is there any pre-built OpenJDK binaries for AArch64 with JIT enabled that can be used on ArchLinuxARM?

Heads up,

[alarm@alarm ~]$ java -version
openjdk version "9"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 9+181)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 9+181, mixed mode)
