Unable to Detect Sense Hat: OSError: Cannot detect RPi-Sense

Postby plutosrings » Sun Mar 18, 2018 6:24 pm

Hello,

I have posted the following on the Sense-Hat Github site:
https://github.com/RPi-Distro/python-se ... /issues/84

And get the described error whilst trying to use the python code.

Was recommended to test the hats using Rasbian and they work great; does not appear to be a hardware/power issue with the Hats themselves.

For some reason the latest version of Arch on arm is not detecting the sense hat as described in the information from the github post.

$uname -a
Linux cm02-mon 4.15.10-1-ARCH #1 SMP Fri Mar 16 18:10:31 MDT 2018 aarch64 GNU/Linux

dmesg output:
https://pastebin.com/tncx6TRH

dtc output:
https://pastebin.com/5jzsj74j

I would prefer to use Arch on ARM if we can figure out a solution as to whats missing or where the problem is.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I was able to get the Hats working using the older Raspberry Pi 2 image found here:

https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv ... berry-pi-2

I did have to run the raspi-config tool (in the AUR) to enable the i2c interface. After that I'm able to write to the LED matrix.

Its not the latest and greatest 64-bit but I'm at least moving forward in the OE of my choice.
