Odroid C2 4.16 mainline on eMMC - root mounted read-only

I have upgraded to 4.16:

# pacman -S uboot-odroid-c2-mainline
# pacman -S linux-aarch64

The system boots normally, and I am able to ssh into it. However the root partition is mounted as read-only.

# mount
...
/dev/mmcblk0p1 on / type ext4 (ro,relatime,data=ordered)
...

Any suggestions on how to fix this please? Thanks.

if you have an eMMC adapter card, use it to mount the eMMC RW (which will work), then make the changes to /boot/boot.*

Then it should boot fine.

Basically odroid c2 is a bit marginal with 200MHz eMMC ...
