Weston, Wayland, Chromium

Postby schmi85 » Wed Dec 19, 2018 12:41 pm

Hello Everybody.

I am trying to run chromium on wayland/weston on a rPI 3. I have follewed the installation steps here, using the ArchLinuxARM-rpi-3-latest.tar.gz image, so the AArch64 Installation and I hope to be in the right forum here.

Finally I have installed these packages:

- xf86-video-fbdev
- adobe-source-[sans|serif|code]-pro-fonts
- wayland
- weston
- xorg-server-xwayland
- chromium

added this to /boot/config.txt
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
gpu_mem=256
dispmanx_offline=1
')

and created /root/.config/weston.ini with that content:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
[core]
xwayland=true
')

Than Running:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
[root@alarm ~]# weston --log=./weston.log --config=.config/westin.ini
')

started a desktop. From there I have opened a terminal and ran:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
chromium --no-sandbox
')

But that command never succeeds, after some time the following error appears:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
chromium --no-sandbox [373:538:1219/121529.626420:ERROR:object oxy.cc(621)] Failed to call method: org.freedesktop.Notifications.GetCapabili s: object_path= /org/freedesktop/Noti fications: org.freedesktop.nus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.Notifications was […] some missing words blink here
')

The content of weston.log
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '

Furthermore, after a failed try to start chromium in weston, the only way to stop that is by typing ctrl+alt+backspace. When I than relaunch weston the same way again, no Desktop shows up, just a black screen and a mouse pointer. Rebooting solves that.

I have tried the very setup within a virtual box, using the actual Arch Linux ISO and there everything worked fine. So I guess I am missing something to install here?

Thanks for Help!
