bashrc is not used

Hello,
I just installed Arch Linux on my PI 3 Then I set the environment variable PS1 in the .bashrc of my home directory. Unfortunately this variable is not read by SSH when logged in as root user.

Also other environment variables and aliases are not recognized. Can someone tell me why the .bashrc is not read?
