[RPi 4B] kernel 4.19 - MT7612U, no AP Mode

Postby kmahyyg » Wed Oct 16, 2019 3:47 am

I've bought a MT7612U based chip for my USB wireless card, it can work on my laptop with Arch Linux x86_64 with kernel 5.3.6 and has full modes support (AP, VLAN, monitor, managed).

But on current 4.19 kernel, I can only use monitor and managed, is there possible to use AP mode? could any body help me port a AP mode back? or If there's any instruction to build a 5.3.6 kernel on RPi4 for Arch linux ARM version, I would be really appreciate.

Thank you guys.

Since 4.19 MT76 is under heavy development, so backporting is a hassle.

You could try the rpi vendor tree for 5.2, which should work:

Make sure you have "base-devel" installed
Take this:
https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUIL ... spberrypi4

edit PKGBUILD and
- change "_commit" to the latest commit in the 5.2 tree
- change "pkgver" to 5.2... whatever is Makefile in 5.2 tree

then run "makepkg --skipinteg", deal with new config options. It will build after into a package for you.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'https://olegtown.pw/Public/ArchLinuxArm/RPi4/kernel/')
I haven't tested the armv7 version if you want to try it.
