No USB detected on Raspberry Pi 4 with aarch64

I managed to find the missing component. Kodi starts with `systemctl start kodi` (although it takes quite a while) and sound works. When searching through /var/lib/kodi/.kodi/temp/kodi.log (pasted below), I noticed "Default Audio Player: paplayer", i.e., instead of raw alsa, Kodi uses the pulseaudio stack. Following this observation, a simple `pacman -S pulseaudio-alsa` resolved my issues and sound works throughout the system.

OK glad you got it solved. So kodi worked all along, you just didn't wait long enough for it to load? I don't see what was driving the "unable to create GUI" message after you modified /boot/config.txt as directed.

The "unable to create GUI" error appeared when I was trying to launch Kodi by typing `kodi` in lqxt-terminal, within a running lxqt session. If I understood the Kodi article on the ArchWiki correcty, this should be supported, as:

Makes sense. I never tried running it from a DE as you have under Xorg. Always with the systemd unit. I do not think kodi-gbm will work under Xorg and we are providing gbm. You could experiment build the x11 binary but I have no idea whether or not hardware decoding will work. Without it, kodi on a RPi is kinda useless.

I don't have access to my RPI right now, but the reason I installed the 5.10 kernel in the first place was the lack of USB support in the vanilla aarch64 kernel (as of this post version 5.8 I believe). Because I currently also lack a reliable way to SSH into my RPI, I will have to postpone your experiment for the moment, since without a functioning keyboard, there is no way for me to interact with my RPI.

Regarding your edit: Yesterday morning, I tried running your kernel without the kodi and pulseaudio packages, resulting in no sound output (with alsamixer reporting no sound controls). This was the result for both dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d and dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d. I can only surmise at this point--as I have no time to verify--that pulseaudio-alsa pulls in missing configurations. Kodi also uses paplay internally.

I refuse to believe that pulseaudio is a requirement to have sounds play on a RPi. I haven't needed to put a DE on a RPi/have no experience with it so i have no first hand experience trying to get sound to work on the thing.

I also don't believe that pulseaudio should be necessary - after all, it runs on top of alsa. But if the above-mentioned fresh install still produces no sound, and if then installing pulseaudio-alsa "resolves" the issue, where, if not in the configuration, could the problem lie?
