amv7 or aarch64 for the Rpi 4B 8GB

Postby Sbyrr0 » Mon Nov 23, 2020 11:19 pm

If one gets the Raspberry Pi 4 with 8GB of RAM, what installation is more advisable?

- Can alarm armv7 use all 8 GB of RAM? Or does it suffer from 32bit limitations and can therefore only use 4 of them?
- Is there any reason to prefer alarm aarch64 over alarm armv7?
- As of November 2020, is there any feature difference between Raspbian aarch64 and alarm aarch64?
- The hardware revision of Rpi 4B 8GB is 1.4, have they already fixed the power adapter (full USB Type-C standard compliance)? If yes, what HW revisions comply with the standard?

IN my case its arm7 because video hw acceleration - my rpi4 acts as a samba server, jupyterlab playground, playing with containers and home multimedia center( kodi ) - thats why arm7 so far.

I think arm7 can use all 8GB with some limit per process ( never experienced problems with it )
