RPI4's keyboard and mouse in sleeping mode

Postby wfr » Sun May 23, 2021 9:33 am

My system: rpi4 with 4GB, boot on SD-card, root on SSD via USB3-adapter connected to rpi4, mouse and keyboard connected to rpi4's USB2 ports. After being idle for a while the system doesn't accept neither any keystrokes nor any mouse clicks. Any solutions for this problem are appreciated.
P.S.: OS is 32-bit archlinux with xfce desktop

Seems like you have some USB powersaving option enabled. Did you use a util like powertop or follow some guide somewhere?

I do not have any power management tools implemented; archlinux was implemented following the instructions in "http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv8/broadcom/raspberry-pi-4". USB3-adapter was SABRENT for which I had to use quirks feature in cmdline.txt. Swichting to StarTech adapter didn't change anything except that quirks feature is no longer affordable.
I forgot to mention, that I'm using xfce4 desktop.

Solved

the tip of user "graysky" was very useful. Searching the net for "archlinux raspberry 4 powersaving" I found a solution:
in "/etc/modprobe.d/usbcore.conf" I add "options usbcore autosuspend=-1 #prevent USB auto-suspend for new USB devices"

For more than 1 hour of idle time mouse and keyboard are still alive.

Glad you fixed the problem but that shouldn't be needed unless, as I said you modified something or installed something that did.
