Your pi should out-of-the-box boot up and display a console login prompt. If this isn't happening, and if you haven't configured a graphical greeter, something is wrong.

1) Is there any output to the monitor at all?
1a) do you see the rainbow screen when the pi is initially powered up?
1b) do you see any boot messages?
1c) is the monitor receiving any signal at all?
1d) anything relevant in dmesg (connect via ssh) or in journalctl to show some errors?

It's still there but someone force pushed. If you browse to the github url for it, you should still see it.

Hi graysky,

- Your pi should out-of-the-box boot up and display a console login prompt. If this isn't happening, and if you haven't configured a graphical greeter, something is wrong.

Yes it boots correctly, but when the login prompt should appear (in my case I've configured auto-login via systemd) I get a black screen.

1) Is there any output to the monitor at all?

Yes, I can read all the boot messages, this step works ok.

1a) do you see the rainbow screen when the pi is initially powered up?

Yes. I use april 29 'stable' firmware

1b) do you see any boot messages?

Yes, all of them.

1c) is the monitor receiving any signal at all?

I think so, the monitor led is steady ON (my monitor led blinks when it receives no signal).

1d) anything relevant in dmesg (connect via ssh) or in journalctl to show some errors?

I can't connect via ssh. I'll try to dig into journalctl output and will post if I see something relevant.

In my case, reinstalling 5.10.44-2 makes the pi work again.

Thanks for all your help!

Update:

Just saw 5.10.44-5 is out and decided to try it: It works!

OS: 5.10.44-5-ARCH GNU/Linux
Uptime: 4 minutes

Got back good old tty text-based console and also wayland graphics.

Just one little question I can't see it in "https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs/commits/master", why is it?

Thx to all involved in this, specially to graysky for your allways helping hand.

Glad it's working for you. It's there but I double bumped by mistake: https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUIL ... 1dabf12c74

I am now on 5.10.44-5-ARCH and that still works (with gdm). I haven't tested SSDM or Kodi. Are we of the opinion the upstream bug can now be closed or is there something still outstanding?
