RPi4 2G, keypress and mouse clicks stop responding in GUI

RPi4 2G, keypress and mouse clicks stop responding in GUI

Hardware and software:
    RPi4 2G
    Bluetooth Keyboard
    Bluetooth Mouse
    fully updated Arch Linux aarch64
    XFCE4
    LightDM

After sitting idle for a while at the XFCE4 desktop, mouse clicks and keyboard presses appear to either be ignored or not received at all. The mouse still moves the pointer, the clock continues to update the time, CTRL+ALT+[0-7] continues to function to switch between VTs, and at a VT keypresses are seen just fine, I can SSH into the unit at all times.

Any thoughts, suggestions?
