Wifi is dropping on me

Postby grandcanyon » Tue Apr 09, 2024 3:30 am

I have a RPI5 running the latest version of aarch64. The past few days I am getting random wifi disconnects and I have to reboot. I'm using NetworkManager. Is there a bug in one of the packages?

Might be only half helpful, but I also experieced wifi problems in the recent past, I solved it by using a newer kernel version (at least thats what I think solved it).

Thanks for the help. Which kernel are you using. I am using 6.6.25-1-rpi-16k.

I've kept all the packages so I can downgrade if needed.

I disabled ipv6 as I am not sure if this could be my issue. I have also found a Wifi_check script and changed it to use nmcli and then I set a crontab job to check for dropped wifi. I guess I'll have to wait to see if it works when it drops. Kind of hacky but trying to avoid reboots.

I replaced openresolv with systemd-resolvconf. This has seem to fix my problem.

I spoke too soon as it just happened. I ran ip neigh and it shows stale entries. I'm not sure why and how to keep them from becoming stale. Seems like there is a setting that drops my local ips after so many days;

No issues using systemd-networkd with wpa_supplicant on RPi5B here. Pure service files though.
