Lenovo Chromebook with Mediatek MT8173C?

Postby teh45 » Mon Jun 24, 2024 8:49 pm

Am new so want to make sure this is the correct forum for my Lenovo Chromebook with Mediatek MT8173C questions.

The most detailed info I have found concerning the Mediatek MT8173C SOC is atmake_clickable_callback(MAGIC_URL_FULL, ' ', 'https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mediatek-MT8173C-Chromebook-SoC.207582.0.html', '', ' class="postlink"') which mentions "The architecture is based on ARMv8-ISA and therefore supports 64-bit."

As a Total ARM newbe appreciate any help!

Thanks

Closest thing I see in the Platforms list is this:
make_clickable_callback(MAGIC_URL_FULL, '
', 'https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv8/mediatek/acer-chromebook-r13', '', ' class="postlink"')

AIUI, the challenge with ARM hardware is that the overall platform (aside from CPU) isn't standardized. So while Arch ARM would run on that CPU, getting it installed and booting on that laptop may be a massive challenge.

That said, I also found this, so it's apparently possible assuming this is the model of Chromebook you have (I took a guess).
make_clickable_callback(MAGIC_URL_FULL, '
', 'https://github.com/buzzy/linux.base', '', ' class="postlink"')
