Controlling red power led on Raspberry Pi 3

Postby jakethedog » Sun Mar 06, 2016 4:51 pm

Hi,
I would like to turn of the red power led on my new rpi 3, but the led doesn't seem to be available under /sys/class/leds/.
Only the green led0 is present.

Can I fix this or this something in the alarm image/kernel?
Thanks

Controlling the red led is (currently) not possible due to changes in the gpio mapping of the Raspberry Pi 3
See: https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/1332

You can basically switch back to the good old RPi2 with better performance by loading the RPi2 device tree instead of the RPi3 one.

Add in /boot/config.txt
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'device_tree=bcm2709-rpi-2-b.dtb')

Now both LED appear under /sys/class/leds, however keep in mind the built-in WiFi / BT won't be available anymore.
