Raspberry Pi 3 - upgrade from ARMv7 to AArch64

Is it possible to upgrade from ARMv7 on my Raspberry Pi 3 to AArch64 without much of a hassle? Or am I better of installing from scratch?

Way much better off installing it from scratch, and restore whatever config you need from backup.
