Odroid C2 Gigabit Ethernet

Postby robrunner » Thu Nov 03, 2016 5:14 pm

Hi,
I just got my Odroid C2 and installed and updated Arch on the 8 GB eMMC module and everything is working just fine, but the ethernet is only in 100 MBit/s mode. Only the green light of the Port is blinking, not the yellow one.
inxi -F tells me:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'Network: Card: Failed to Detect Network Card!')
I tried to find any information about the Realtek 8211F network controller, but couldn't.
I couldn't find anything to solve this problem in the Arch Wiki/Forums.
How do I get it to work?
Thanks!

Considering the network cad is not on the PCI bus, I am not entirely surprised. (Yes, it happens here too)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[whse@c2 ~]$ inxi -Fx

Check the output of `dmesg | grep stmmac`

Forgive the naive questions but is your cable up to specs? Is the router or switch as well? For mine:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '% dmesg | grep stmmac
[ 2.042141] libphy: stmmac: probed
[ 2.042163] eth0: PHY ID 001cc916 at 0 IRQ POLL (stmmac-0:00) active
[ 2.042173] eth0: PHY ID 001cc916 at 7 IRQ POLL (stmmac-0:07)
[ 11.702554] libphy: stmmac-0:00 - Link is Up - 1000/Full')

Omg you are correct. How do I have an ethernet cable, that doesn't support gigabit ethernet?
It works perfectly fine with another one.
I am so sorry for wasting your time :oops:
Thanks a lot!

It is one of two things:
- The cable is only wired for 100 (2 pairs)
- The cable has damage on one of the secondary pairs for 1000
