aarch64 raspberry kernel package? [UPD: in AUR!]

Postby ava1ar » Fri Apr 13, 2018 6:15 am

Hi everyone,

As far as I see, for aarch64, ArchLinixARM proposes to use the upstream kernel build (4.16 currently), which is not supporting all features of the raspberry pi 3 (i.e. official touch screen doesn't work properly). Any particular reason, why official raspberry kernel (4.14.33 as for the moment) is only available for armv6 and armv7, but not for aarch64? Is there some know issues with such build? Or simply nobody did it yet?

Sorry, if this question already was aswered on forum - I didn't find it and decided to ask.

I found a GitHub repository, where fresh Raspberry 3 aarch64 kernel is published and updated regularely, so I packaged it for Arch Linux usage. To install it, simply execute

$yaourt -S linux-aarch64-raspberrypi-bin raspberrypi-overlays

and confirm uninstallation/replacement. Optionally, you may want to install raspberrypi-bootloader-x package as well. After the reboot, Raspberry Pi official kernel will be booted. Please note, that there are no correcponding headers package available yet (I simply don't need it).
