[SOLVED] Raspberry Pi 3 B+ the 5V myth & 5.2V reality

Why keeps everyone saying that the rpi3B+ works on 5V when in fact it needs 5.2 Volts and a cord no longer than 10 cm ?

Is this a rip-off scheme to sell kits and overpriced power supplies ?

btw: ASUS USB chargers rated 5.2V do work (such as the one shipped with Google-phone by Asus, but not with regular length cords due to higher voltage drop over the cable).

can anyone demonstrate a true 5.000 Volt supply to work on 3B+ with 1 meter cord ? I very much doubt it.

Asus Tinker Board is also affected by such issue. The startup it may take a pick of 2 A. So for that is preferable a fatty wire and not longer than 1m (3 Ft). Also powering by the GPIO is advisable, but make sure the same care is taken.
