Odroid N2 using armv6l rather that aarch64???!

Postby jamithy » Mon Apr 22, 2019 9:13 pm

Hi,

I have an Odroid N2, and i installed it following the instructuctions here: https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv ... /odroid-n2

However in conversation with someone in manjaro arm forums, then we noticed that the kernelpackage shouldbe aarch64 but mine is showing as arm6l!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[yda james]# uname -a
Linux yda 4.19.34-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Apr 10 00:14:19 UTC 2019 armv6l GNU/Linux')

There doesn't seem to be any untoward side-effects, and I've not changed anything that I recall that would have changed it from aarch64 to arm6l - any one have some more info on this please? i.e. any one with an odoid N2, can they type uname -a, and post their output please? Thanks in advance :)

thanks,

James

Well that is odd. I just got my N2 a few days ago. I used the same install instructions.

Here is my uname:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
# uname -a
Linux n2 4.9.168-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Apr 19 01:31:18 UTC 2019 aarch64 GNU/Linux
')

And why is your kernel at 4.19.34-1? Mine is at 4.9.168-1-ARCH after pacman -Syu. I think it started at 4.9.162 as did the Ubuntu.

I bought 2 16GB EMMCs with Ubutnu on them. I installed Arch over one of them. The Ubuntu kernel after upgrade is at 4.9.168-24 if I recall correctly - only unsure about the -24.

Maybe you should try a fresh install even if on a micro SD card.

I have found a few oddities. Issuing the command ip rule returns the following:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
# ip rule
RTNETLINK answers: Address family not supported by protocol
Dump terminated
')

Though ip -6 rule works. I cannot find much by googling but what little I did find suggested a CONFIG flag was not set when the kernel was made. I reported this at odroid.com but no one has responded as of yet.

And I tried to install wireguard-dkms and ran into header problems. I was able to work around that and get wireguard working. I also reported that at odroid.com.

After a new install I did pacman -Syu and kernel 'switched' from aarch64 to armv7l 4.14.78-1. Not what I was expecting.
