Fresh RPI4 Aarch64 Installtion: Unable to boot

Postby bilsebub » Tue Mar 30, 2021 2:09 pm

Hey folks,

I followed the guide from https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv8/broadcom/raspberry-pi-4.
But unfortunately I am unable to boot with the following error message:

And I can not use my keyboard to do anything about it :(

Some more info:
- I am booting from USB, as I updated the firmware with raspbian (which is on the micro sd card)
- Installing and booting aarch64 arch linux from micro sd card resulting in the exact same error -.-
- I did not editing "mmcblk1" in /etc/fstab did not solve the issue (I suspect it does not matter with USB mass storage anyway)

Does anyone had the same issue or knows anything I could do now?

I am not familiar with USB booting on the RPI 4, but here is some basic trouble shooting information to get you started:

1.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')nstalling and booting aarch64 arch linux from micro sd card resulting in the exact same error -.-

in conjunction with
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') followed the guide from https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv ... berry-pi-4

cannot be true, as the guide states to install the system to /dev/mmcblk0p{0, 1}.

2.
The USB keyboard issue is known, see for instance viewtopic.php?f=65&t=15245&p=66287&hilit=no+usb+keyboard#p66287.
For now, you need to install the linux-raspberrypi4 kernel if you want reliable USB peripherals support on the RPI 4.

3.
Have you consulted any of the USB boot guides such as viewtopic.php?f=30&t=15011?

4. To isolate the issue, try installing ALARM (using the linux-raspberrypi4 kernel) on the SD card first. If it works, proceed with the above-linked guide towards a USB install. If you encounter errors, post them here, including the exact steps you followed.
