Archboot auto install on Mac M1 not working (virtualization)

Postby sowsanti » Fri Jan 12, 2024 10:10 am

Hello there,
I wanted to try Arch on a M1 mac using Parallels desktop but the installation process is not working for me.
I am using the latest ISO (archboot-2024.01.01-10.25-6.2.10-1-aarch64-ARCH-aarch64) from archboot but the packages fail to install. The rest of the installation seems to work correctly, but it seems I don't have correct packages signatures.
Sorry in advance if I use terms incorrectly, I'm quite new to thi :').

I get multiple of these errors on tty11 after trying to install the packages using the quickinst sctipt:
error: linux-firmware-whence: signature from "Arch Linux ARM Build System <builder@archlinuxarm.org>" is marginal trust
:: File /mnt/install/var/cache/pacman/pkg/linux-firmware-whence-20231211.f2e52a1c-1-any.pkg.tar.xz is corrupted (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature)).
Do you want to delete it? [Y/n]

I'm having the same issue installing from any of the iso images or even just a ram disk and kernel in UTM on an M2 Mac. I've tried some of the older images i.e. from December all the way up to the Jan 20th release. I've attempted several different mirrors to install base but they all end up with the "Marginal trust" issue you posted so I can't install on a new VM.

Try:
# pacman -S archlinuxarm-keyring
Then
# pacman -Syu
'pacman -S archlinuxarm-keyring' also just gives:

failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package(PGP signature))
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

Hmmm... did you follow step 10:
pacman-key --init
pacman-key --populate archlinuxarm
Not OP but I'm a total newbie. I'm installing the iso
archboot-2024.03.05-20.34-6.7.8-1-aarch64-ARCH-aarch64
in UTM on a M1 Mac and I have the exact same problem. And yes, I also tried
packman-key --init
and
packman-key --populate archlinuxarm
and I keep getting the same erros.
