Only root can login via SSH after latest Pacman -Syu Help!

Postby kaspar » Fri Jul 08, 2011 11:02 pm

I'm not sure what happened, but only root can login via SSH or webmin. All other users are prompted for a password, but it refuses their valid password and disconnects. This also happens to a webmin user (other than root) that used to work.

Everyone could connect to SAMBA before the upgrade.

Have have run the upgrade several times.

I forgot to mention that everyone can still connect to SAMBA via a windows box, but it now refuses Linux box connections to SAMBA just like SSH.

I'm lost.

Any suggestions?

Hello,
Does the users you are talking about are still present in /etc/passwd ?
can you enter them using su command from root login?
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '# su someuser')

You can try to use verbose mode in ssh during connection, ssh -v this should give you some details why users are refused to connect.

Samba is using own password db and not pam to pass authentification, this may be the reason you are still able to connect to shares.
