No soundcards installed on Armv8 running Amlogic S905

Postby ajiratech » Tue Aug 22, 2017 6:11 am

I've installed Arch linux on a board based on P201 running Amlogic S905 with 2G RAM and 16G eMMC, Gigabit ethernet. Everything seems to be working as expected, the only issue is that I have no sound. I've installed alsa and it's utils and everything but I still do not have any sound.

sudo aplay -l
aplay: device_list:270: no soundcards found...

cat /proc/asound/cards
--- no soundcards ---

sudo lsmod
Module Size Used by
joydev 10575 0
sch_fq_codel 7257 2
ip_tables 16493 0
autofs4 26431 2

dmesg | grep audio
[ 1.060110] hdmtix: set audio
[ 5.386341] amaudio: driver amaudio succuess!

dmesg | grep sound
[ 6.172856] No soundcards found.

Please advice on how to get this to work ?

P.S. - I've tried buildroot using the source code for the board and I see that the soundcards do get installed on that image, but there are a couple of other issues on that Buildroot image, so for now I'm troubleshooting this one remaining issue on Arch linux i.e. the Sound.
