aufs on arm and not on x86 ??

Postby cyberic » Sun Jan 15, 2012 11:56 pm

Hello

I have arch install on my dockstar, with kernel 3.1.7-2, and I discovered that aufs was compiled in the kernel.

But I thought it had been dropped since 2.6.39?? (see https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/24742)

It is not built on my x86_64, with kernel 3.2.1-1

has someone an explanation?

Thanks

Yes, we decided to build it in because we're awesome like that. We maintain our kernels separately, but roughly based on upstream revisions.

Okay it't great!
Did you see any real reason for the removal on x86? some unstabilities?
Do you think the aufs patch can easily be applied to x86_64 kernels too?

I don't know why Arch removed it, but you can add whatever patches you want and rebuild the kernel.

See last comment and "comments about closing" in the bugreport you posted. I never discovered instabilities.

Package is available in AUR

Even though it's an old post...has anyone gotten AUFS working on their plugs?

Well, yes, no problem, I use it on the DockStar since > 1 year. Only thing I'm missing since I switched from custom kernel to ARCH kernel is CONFIG_AUFS_EXPORT.
