Support gcc 4.8.2

Since gcc 4.8 is much more feature complete for C++11, it may be reasonable to release this version of gcc (instead of 4.7.2).

I know it may involve work but it should be helpful to other code writers.

This will be done soon now that issues with ARM and 4.8 (particularly older kernels) have been resolved.
