Preparing linux-3.13 for Armv7

Postby ineiti » Thu Jan 23, 2014 7:35 pm

Hi all,

I tried to prepare the latest linux-kernel for Armv7. I found some bugs related to the version (packages that mix 3.13 and 3.13.0) and tried to get around with some ifs in the PKGBUILD-file. Aufs didn't arrive yet in 3.13, so I took the 3.x-rcN version. The kernel compiles, boots, but there are a lot of errors for unresolved symbols when depmod is run. For example iptables doesn't load and only gives errors like:

xt_alloc_table_info (err 0)
xt_check_match (err 0)
xt_check_target (err 0)
xt_find_revision (err 0)
xt_find_table_lock (err 0)
xt_free_table_info (err 0)
xt_proto_fini (err 0)
xt_proto_init (err 0)
xt_recseq (err 0)
xt_register_matches (err 0)
xt_register_table (err 0)
xt_register_targets (err 0)
xt_replace_table (err 0)
xt_request_find_match (err 0)
xt_request_find_target (err 0)
xt_table_unlock (err 0)
xt_unregister_matches (err 0)
xt_unregister_table (err 0)
xt_unregister_targets (err 0)

any idea what I did wrong? I created a branch

arm7_3_13

in my repo at

I already have 3.13 configured, built, and just waiting for an AUFS branch for 3.13. There is nothing monumentally new or different that a few days of waiting for release is a problem.

OK, then I'll wait - just thought I'd have some fun in poking the packaging of ArchLinux...

How did you solve the issue with regard to the 3.13 that doesn't have a patch from the kernel? Of course it's a minor problem, but do you think anything like what I tried with my adding sources only if it's a non-".0"-release is worth the lines?

Thanks for your patience ;)

?? Not enough comments? Too many? Waiting for comments of other people? Shall I copy the changes to the forum here?

I comment out the patch that doesn't exist for a .0 release. This isn't that hard..
