How to test ECC

Is there a way to test ECC for NAND flash to make sure it is working? I am hoping to do it through U-boot commands, but I do not mind doing it with a C program or some other script.

All it should involve is rewriting a page of memory without rewriting the CRC for that page. If someone knows how to do that, please let me know.
