Support Reflector on ARM: JSON mirror status

Postby Ataraxy » Mon Aug 10, 2020 3:06 am

I emailed Xyne, the creator of `reflector` about what would need to be done for ARM support:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')Reflector is developed for the offical Arch Linux mirror status page and expects the mirror data to be in the same JSON format: https://www.archlinux.org/mirrors/status/json/

You can use the "--url" option to point it to a different mirror status page, but the format must be the same. I had a look at the ARM mirrors link that you sent, but I don't see any JSON link on that page. You or someone else will need to write a wrapper that generates the ARM mirror data in the expected format if you want to use reflector, or you will need to convince the ARM devs to provide it.

Regards,
Xyne

Could we get a JSON version of the information available at:

I am posting out of curiosity only, but what region are you in? I had been using the 32 bit arch build prior to recently switching to the 64 bit that was recently released, for US there are only 4 servers, so I am wondering how useful reflector would currently be for ARM, Arch also provides the geo-location server which should theoretically use the closest server to you. Are there more mirrors that are not included with the mirrorlist? Reflector is very useful for x86, but for ARM I am wondering if there is really a use for that currently.
