Project contributions

Postby jonathon » Mon Aug 31, 2020 8:31 pm

I've been following the project for a little while now and have been considering how I might be able to help out.

I don't currently have any ARM boards (yet, thinking about getting an ODroid N2+), but I might be able to help source things like hosting, mirrors, build hosts, etc.

I'm also a pretty experienced package maintainer so will be looking at how to cross-compile for ARM and see if I can help out that way (including e.g. port and test my AUR packages).

If there's anything specific which the project would benefit from then please let me know.

1. Nothing is cross-compiled here (well... distcc may do some cross compilation to help out, but all linking is still done on arm board(s)).
2. All packages come out of one build farm that kmihelich owns and maintains, so I don't think build hosts would be of benefit.

3. If you would like to host a mirror, there's more info available here: https://archlinuxarm.org/about/mirrors
Cheers

OK, cool, I'll send an email.

Also, what's the general financial status of the project? Healthy, could do with more funding, ... ?

Unfortunately I do not have that information. You can reach out to Kevin "kmihelich" Mihelich by email (which you can find in any of the PKGBUILDs on github, like this or on IRC channel #archlinux-arm on irc.freenode.net

Just in case it's useful:

You know, just in case you want to distribute things rather than have a single point of failure. ;)
