Topics being locked for non-obvious reasons

Postby chriswyatt » Wed Nov 15, 2023 12:35 pm

I have noticed a few topics being locked, without any comments to actually explain why they've been locked. With both topics, it wasn't obvious why.

For example, one person was asking about a ISO for Apple Mac M1. I was about to point them in the right direction, then found that the topic had been locked.

I'm assuming an admin locked it, and I guess they had their reasons, but a quick comment explaining why topics are locked (when it's not obvious) would just help to create a friendlier atmosphere around here.

Not sure if the forum locks inactive topics... I only delete obvious bot posts.

Ah yes, my apologies. I didn't know that it locked inactive posts automatically. If it printed the reason, that would be handy, but I guess that's an oversight with the forum software. Feel free to lock or delete this one.

EDIT: Ah, it tells you why when you click on the padlock.
