update policy

Hi guys,

is there any automatic package update mechanism?
I installed my box now one or two month ago, since then i didn't received one single update. Yesterday I used pacman -Sy to check for new packages and yes, there were a lot available.

Ofc I can use pacman -Syu now on my own, but in the Wiki of Archlinux someone wrote that it isn't recommended to use this manually in distribiutions with rolling releases.

So... what do you guys recommend? :)

regards,

I'm very curious about where it says not to use pacman -Syu, that's what it's there for: to update your system.

Package updates get built daily, and you can make a cron job to do them on regular intervals but I would recommend doing it manually maybe once a week. You should see what's getting updated so you know if you have to adjust anything, and many times packages install with important notes about the new version.
