Tomcat installation

Postby olgunx » Wed Feb 29, 2012 11:34 am

Hi,

There is no package available for Tomcat in Arch Linux Arm package database, however it is available for standart Arch Linux.
Is there such a way to install Tomcat on Arch Linux Arm ?

Btw, my device is armv5.
I see that Tomcat6 is available for armv7h in here;
http://ftp.f3l.de/archlinuxarm/armv7h/e ... pkg.tar.xz
What if I try to install from here?

It will fail horrendously.

Primarily, troubleshoot the build process for the tomcat package.

It was a long time ago (2009) in a great britain far far away someone ran tomcat on sheeva plug. here is the long story of his dealings http://www.earth.org.uk/note-on-SheevaPlug-setup.html.
So there is hope but be prepared for some action.

Granted, it has been awhile since I worked with tomcat... but the 'install' procedure was 1. Download it, 2 unzip it. The key was that you had to have java installed. You can probably use openjdk... I have not had much success with openjdk with jetty. I saw very slow performance when running subsonic, but your mileage may vary. Your other java alterntative is java compiled for embedded arm processors that you can download directly from oracle's web site.

Hope this is helpful...
